These terms cover your use of the hosted Chordia service at chordia.dev. By creating an account you agree to them.
Chordia the software is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0, and your rights to it come from that license, not from this page. These terms govern only the account we host for you at chordia.dev. If you run Chordia yourself, none of this applies to you.
You need to be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 13. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has it. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
One person, one account. Do not create accounts to evade a suspension.
Chordia does not host, supply or distribute any music. It plays files that are already on a server you control. You are responsible for having the right to hold and play those files, and for the sharing you choose to do with them.
Sharing a library grants specific people access to your server. Consider it in the same terms as lending records: it is between you and them, and the copyright position of what you lend is yours to know. Do not use Chordia’s sharing features to distribute music you have no right to distribute.
Some builds include optional features that fetch content from external sources. These are off by default, run on your own server rather than ours, and using them lawfully is your responsibility.
If you find a security flaw, please report it to security@chordia.dev rather than demonstrating it on other people’s accounts. We will not pursue good-faith research reported that way.
Playing your own music through the hosted service is free, and we intend to keep it that way. If paid features are ever introduced they will be additions, announced in advance, and they will not put anything you can do today behind a payment. Self-hosting will always give you the complete software.
This is a small service run by a small project. It comes with no uptime guarantee, and it may be interrupted for maintenance or by failures. If continuous access matters to you, run your own instance — the software is designed so that you can, and your library keeps working without our Hub.
We may change or discontinue features. If we intend to shut the hosted service down, we will give account holders reasonable notice and time to export their data.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and we will say why unless doing so would be unlawful or would compromise someone’s safety.
The hosted service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost data you did not back up, or for anything that happens on a library server we do not operate.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and none of it affects consumer rights you have where you live.
We will update the date at the top of this page when these terms change, and tell account holders by email before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
